FLEXCoop
Oct. 01, 2017 to Mar. 31, 2020
Renewable energies are often generated decentrally. This is a challenge for the management of the market and networks, which is becoming increasingly “smart”. The EU project FLEXcoop is dedicated to this topic from the point of view of the end user. It develops technologies and business models that intelligently regulate private electricity consumption and enable so-called prosumers, i. e. actors who are both producers and consumers, to access the electricity market. This creates an open market with decentralised consumers and renewable energy producers.
With the FLEXCoop Open Smart Box (OSB), FLEXCoop provides an energy management device for the home and a platform that enables interoperable communication between a variety of heterogeneous sources as well as the collection, processing and management of consumer data.
In two pilot projects, FLEXCoop will be tested and evaluated. The pilots are members of two energy cooperatives in the Netherlands and Spain.
Fraunhofer FOKUS will develop the overall architecture of the FLEXcoop system and technology for the trading platform.
The project is funded by the Horizon 2020 EU Research and Innovation Programme under funding number 773909.
