5G VICTORI

5G-VICTORI is a large scale EU funded project that aims at validating 5G networks with vertical user cases. Large scale trials for Railway, Energy, Media and Factories of the Future are planned. The testbed infrastructure for the Berlin trials is provided by Fraunhofer FOKUS.

Large-Scale International IPv6 Pilot Network – 6NET is a three-year European project to demonstrate that continued growth of the Internet can be met using new IPv6 technology.

6G NeXt
Duration: Oct. 15, 2022 to Oct. 14, 2025

The project "6G Native Extensions for XR Technologies" – 6G NeXt, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), aims to develop a scalable, modular and flexible infrastructure enabling a variety of industrial and end-user use cases with requirements exceeding those of today's 5G network in terms of intelligence, performance and efficiency.

With the SENTINEL lighthouse project, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is launching a lead project to develop key technologies for the upcoming 6G mobile communications standard. The focus is on terahertz technologies and solutions for flexible networks. Fraunhofer FOKUS, as well as four other Fraunhofer institutes, are involved in SENTINEL.

The 6G Research and Innovation Cluster (6G-RIC) will develop the essential key technologies of future 6G communication systems. In addition to the actual technology development, the focus will be on setting up a powerful test infrastructure. For the 6G-RIC, FOKUS will practically test and analyze the management of a distributed RAN functionality as well as innovative network management and data layer functions.

The 6G-Sandbox project aims to provide an open pan-European test environment for 6G experimentation and validation of 5G-Advanced and 6G capabilities. Companies and organizations can conduct trials on four experimental platforms. Fraunhofer FOKUS is part of the project and provides a test environment in Berlin.


6G TakeOff Projekt Logo

The 6G-TakeOff project is working on an uniform 3D communications network, in which flying network nodes provide functionalities together with terrestrial network components dynamically and according to demand. Fraunhofer FOKUS is currently developing an Organic Open6GCore, and will test its capabilities in various use cases together with industry partners.

Within the AAES project, SQC develops a demonstration model which serves to deliver proof of the various options available for acceleration of development cycles in the automobile industry as well as to show their practical feasibility in real-life situations involving control of onboard electronics.
