Fraunhofer FOKUS is an experienced and competent partner for the development and application of digitalization technologies and the networking of distributed infrastructures. Fraunhofer FOKUS develops practical solutions in many national and international funded projects as well as in contract research for SMEs, large-scale industry and public administration.

    Within the scope of the project IoT an IoT testware is to be developed. The testing and certification of IoT solutions is to be made cost-effective for manufacturers. The focus is on systematic inspection processes and test methods in order to prove the technologies demonstrably and to improve the quality of IoT solutions.

    In the SANDMAN project, Fraunhofer FOKUS has developed an AI based predictive maintenance solution for smart pipes able to detect potential leakages and their corresponding positions in time.

  • Virtual LiVe

    Virtualization of Live Events via Audiovisual Immersion

    The aim of the project is to digitally complement or even replace classic event formats by using new immersive media formats when physical presence is not possible. The new media formats, include for example 3D audio, 360° videos, light fields and volumetric videos.

    The project “Berliner Digitaler Bahnbetrieb” (BerDiBa) tests and develops technologies for automated driving on railroads. Fraunhofer FOKUS will use its expertise in environment perception for automated vehicles and adapt its artificial intelligence tools for traffic on rails.

    City.Risks will leverage a set of innovative technologies, city infrastructures as well as Web and social media technologies aiming to increase the security level of citizens in large cities. Through City.Risks solution the citizens in modern smart cities will be actively contributing to the fight against crime and the increase of security level in their daily activities.

    Multi-Platform Application Toolkit

    MPAT allows content creators to produce the HbbTV-equivalent of 'micro-sites' in a cost-efficient way while removing worries about coMPATibility with existing devices. The toolkit provides tested templates and plug-ins that can be easily adapted to a channel or programme design. A set of plug-ins allows the provision of common application features 'out of the box'.

    Open data platform for the cross-disciplinary evaluation and publication of social data

    Together with the Berlin Senate Department for Integration, Labour and Social Affairs, we have developed a prototype of the “Sozial-Informations-System (SIS)” (Social Information System). This data platform is now to be implemented as part of the “PaaSoDat” project through which statistical reports, health and social data will be provided across all departments via the Berlin state network.

    The aim of the “Virtual Learning Environment of the German Armed Forces (VLBw)” project is to create a comprehensive learning ecosystem for all training facilities and digital functions of the German Bundeswehr. The German Armed Forces is one of the largest employers in Germany and has around 130 training centres. It plays an important role in adult education and training.
