Cross-platform distribution and video streaming shape digital value creation and place high demands on performance, interoperability and scalability. At the same time, within the European context, there are increasing demands for transparency, traceability, and responsible platform operation. Amid pressure for sustainability, measurable energy and emissions impacts along the streaming chain are coming into focus. In addition, the need for quality assurance and tamper detection is increasing, and these must be continuously evaluated. Open data remains key to enabling interoperability and data-driven innovation.
Why FOKUS
Fraunhofer FOKUS combines software engineering with domain expertise in internet-based media, networks, and data platforms. We support sustainable streaming and personalization through measurable evaluation throughout the streaming chain. To ensure trust and quality, we develop and evaluate methods for quality assurance and trustworthy content. For live media applications at major events, we combine our media expertise with the development and testing of temporary, portable 5G network infrastructures. And we implement open-data platforms that strengthen interoperability and reuse as the foundation for data-driven innovation.
