Curriculum Vitae

Robert Seeliger is an Innovation Principal in Media Technology with more than 15 years of experience leading international projects across advanced video, streaming platforms, and digital media ecosystems. His expertise spans video streaming technologies, Connected TV, Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI/SSAI), ABR streaming (MPEG-DASH, HLS), and hybrid TV environments, combined with a strong focus on data- and AI-enabled media systems and scalable platform architectures.

In his role at Fraunhofer FOKUS, Robert bridges the gap between applied research and industrial deployment, driving the development of next-generation media technologies and translating complex concepts into production-ready solutions. He leads innovation initiatives across the full lifecycle – from research and standardization to system architecture, prototyping, and market-ready implementation. 

In additon, he drives the evolution of the Future Applications and Media testbeds at Fraunhofer FOKUS, providing a collaboration environment for broadcasters, operators, and media technology companies to explore advanced streaming workflows, Connected TV applications, and next-generation ad tech solutions. He initiated and continues to drive the Green Streaming project, advancing energy-efficient and sustainable approaches in video delivery and media consumption. 

Robert has authored more than 30 scientific publications on streaming technologies, server-side ad insertion, hybrid TV services, energy-aware video processing, and sustainable media systems.

His work focuses on turning research-driven innovation into scalable media platforms and real-world products.
