Security and crisis management are undergoing fundamental changes in the digital age: situational awareness, alerts, and communication must function reliably across organizations even in the face of disruptions or partial outages. At the same time, requirements for cyber and information security, resilience, and compliance are increasing, driven in part by new obligations for regulated entities (risk management, reporting, and documentation). Heterogeneous IT/OT landscapes and high availability requirements complicate the introduction of new architectures during ongoing operations. In addition, greater emphasis is being placed on the resilience of key communication channels and distributed network infrastructures.
Why FOKUS
Fraunhofer FOKUS combines software engineering with domain expertise for BOS/KRITIS and mission-critical digital processes. We address reliable early warning systems, cyber and information security including standards, testing procedures, and conformity assessment, and mission-critical communication networks, with a focus on resilience and redundancy. In addition, we provide methods for deepfake detection and manipulated content classification to support robust decision-making.
