IP-Based Emergency Applications and ServiCes for NExt Generation Networks
Sep. 01, 2008 to Nov. 01, 2010
The project IP-Based Emergency Applications and ServiCes for NExt Generation Networks (PEACE), funded through the FP7 programme “Research for SMEs”, aims at providing a general emergency management framework (based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)) addressing extreme emergency situations such as terrorist attacks and natural catastrophes as well as day-to-day emergency cases such as calls to the police or fire brigade.
Through this project, important issues such as
- user and device location,
- representation of emergency numbers in IMS and its mapping to PSTN,
- IMS extension for indication of location and emergency numbers,
- addressing the emergency requests to the closest answering point
will be investigated and implemented.
The consortium is a healthy mixture of SMEs including VoIP service provider, VoIP security and signaling products manufacturers as well as reputed research organizations with long experience in the areas of security and VoIP.
