SENTINEL Key Visual
6G SENTINEL

With the SENTINEL lighthouse project, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is launching a lead project to develop key technologies for the upcoming 6G mobile communications standard. The focus is on terahertz technologies and solutions for flexible networks. Fraunhofer FOKUS, as well as four other Fraunhofer institutes, are involved in SENTINEL.

ALADIN
Duration: Jan. 26, 2021 to Jan. 26, 2024

The ALADIN project aims to ensure safer forest firefighting in the future employing demand-oriented 5G networking of emergency forces and response resources. As a first step, a nomadic, i.e. local and temporary, network is being set up at the Schönhagen airfield in Brandenburg. The network will then be used as a basis for controlling unmanned response equipment and monitoring and securing the site of operations.

MRO 2.0 – Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul
Duration: Jan. 01, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022

The use of new technological approaches, such as the digital twin, can optimize the maintenance process of gas turbines in power plants. Fraunhofer FOKUS provides new approaches for the expansion of the communication infrastructure in connection with Digital Twins.

One pillar of the strategy is to setup a pan-European network of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH), to broadly foster and disseminate digital innovation.

Fed4FIRE+ is an Integrating Project under the European Union’s Programme Horizon 2020, addressing the work programme topic Future Internet Research and Experimentation. It started in January 2017 and will run for 60 months, until the end of September 2021.

The H2020 project ElasTest aims at assisting companies developing large scale complex distributed systems to create a testing ecosystem that enables them to reduce time-to-market and ship software products that are more robust while at the same time increase the productivity of developers and testers.

5G-Ready Trial Platform

The 5G-ready Trial Platform is one of two projects of the Fraunhofer-Institutes FOKUS and HHI. It will provide 5G mobile and network technologies for the 5G Test Field Initiative of the Berlin senate for economics, technology and research.

ΞMBERS

The innovation project aims to bring a Smart City backend solution to market by testing and extending it within the two FIRE facilities FUESCO Playground in Germany (using the standard compliant OpenMTC framework) and the FIT IoT-Lab in France (using a wide range of programmable sensors).
