Cyber-physical Systems (CPSs) must be reliable, robust, efficient, safe, and secure, even in the presence of uncertainty. U-Test will aim to improve the dependability of CPSs by defining extensible MBT frameworks supporting holistic testing of the systems under uncertainty in a cost-effective manner.

This project, funded by the European Commission, introduces the concept ofUser Centric Networking (UCN), which is a new paradigm leveraging user information at large to deliver novel content recommendation systems and content delivery frameworks.

A group of 17 leading European telecommunications service providers, IT corporations, infrastructure vendors and academic institutions have launched “UniverSelf” a research initiative whose goal is to overcome the increasing complexity of managing communication networks and enable their future growth by generating innovations in autonomic networking – technologies that enable networks to manage themselves.

New technologies for urban transformation: The H2020 project Urbanite (Supporting the decision-making of URBAN transformation with the use of dIsruptive TEchnologies) develops a model for sustainable urban development based on the example of urban mobility. For this purpose, algorithms from the field of data-driven decision support and a data management platform will be provided.

The UST+ project aims at the development of a semantically enhanced, context-sensitive middleware for dynamic interconnection and collaboration of services located on different devices.
Vakomo
Duration: Sep. 01, 2008 to Aug. 31, 2010

SQC joined forces with an industry partner from the SME sector in the Vakoma project (validation methods for cost-effective, modular, industrial control systems) to develop decentralized modular architectures for control devices in compliance with IEC 61508, the standard governing safety requirements in electronic systems.

VARIES
Duration: May 01, 2012 to Apr. 30, 2015

Within the VARIES project 23 partners from seven European countries work on maximizing the potential of variability in safety critical embedded systems, which underlie additional requirements. Therefore, the VARIES project team will develop an extensible reference platform for the “Variability Management”.

The expected outcome of the VERDE project is a net improvement of productivity, predictability and cost control in the development process. The VERDE solution will be readily exploitable by software engineering vendors and service providers.

The Internet of Things (IoT) increases the risk of attacks on the software of systems caused even by simple execution errors. Software verification tools can make a significant contribution to ensuring the security and reliability of digital technologies.

Duration: Oct. 01, 2013 to Jan. 31, 2014

The changes in energy policy pose new challenges to the power grid. Thermal power stations, windmills, photovoltaic plants as well as energy accumulators shall all be fed into the power supply system without causing any fluctuations. The control of such decentralized systems is performed using the VHPready standard.
