Cloud technologies for more agile management

News from Feb. 04, 2021

The Competence Center Public IT (ÖFIT) at Fraunhofer FOKUS published the white paper Cloud-Betrieb im öffentlichen Sektor: Selbstbedienung, automatisiert (Cloud operations in the public sector: self-service, automated). Cloud solutions can actively support the administration with becoming more agile  and thus lead to a cultural change not only within, but also between organizations.

Citizens expect a modern public administration to offer a contemporary online service that largely replaces the classic visit to the authorities. The prerequisite for this is the development and operation of modern IT applications that can provide new or modified software quickly and reliably - for users inside and outside the administration.

Online offerings, even during parallel maintenance work, make it possible to roll out new software during ongoing operations or to cushion high access numbers at short notice. Modern IT applications can help public administration in many ways through technology from the cloud. It is a matter of offering services quickly and reliably even in challenging situations, while at the same time reacting promptly to changing requirements.

This white paper focuses on the operation of IT applications in the cloud and shows the advantages of cloud technology in the implementation of the many requirements for current software beyond its immediate functionality. The publication is available for download in full on the website of the ÖFIT Public IT competence center.
