The demo, a collaboration with Telekom Innovation Laboratories, shows how data from battery operated sensor nodes measuring the filling level of public trash cans and communicate sensor readings via MQTT-SN over NB-IoT to oneM2M-based M2M platforms. On the cloud-based M2M backend data is exposed in a oneM2M-standard compliant fashion and filling levels could be visualized on a dashboard. From an integration perspective, e.g. Smart City, other subsystems exposing their data according to the oneM2M standards could be easily linked into the dashboard or used by applications in a standardized way. This scenario illustrates the fast deployments opportunities of Smart City use cases without any additional network infrastructure required on the smart service provider site, making use of NB-IoT.
