Open5G-MTC: New 5G Toolkit for a high number of M2M devices

News from Apr. 22, 2015

Fraunhofer FOKUS Business Unit Next Generation Network Infrastructures (NGNI) is happy to present a new toolkit as part of its 5G Playground testing environment. Open5G-MTC broadens the range of NGNI toolkits for the 5th Generation of mobile networks.

Open5G-MTC is a practical implementation based on ETSI M2M, oneM2M and OMA LWM2M standards with the main target of achieving more flexibility, programmability, resilience, faster response and security within a 5G environment for the Machine to Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) communication.

Within the 5G environment an extremely high number of devices will be connected to the network. Furthermore they will be using different communication requirements (delay/capacity), different communication patterns (on exceptional events, regular, continuous), different reliability requirements and information trust levels. Easy remote management, administration and calibration will also be needed.
