In the Social Information System (SIS), a variety of data sets are available for public inspection, which provide information on selected characteristics of beneficiaries and budgetary resources in the areas of social assistance and transfer payments for which SenIAS is responsible. The SIS provides extensive and detailed information on the social statistical reporting system in document form as prepared files. Information in tabular form is generally provided as an Excel file for easier further processing, while texts and figures are offered as PDF files.

The SIS was consistently developed from the perspective of the user groups and combines intuitive control with open-source software. Thus, the system is independent of a fixed manufacturer and can be reused and extended by other administrations. Through the consistent use of metadata in accordance with the Open Data Regulation, the data sets can be combined with other data from open sources. The project was implemented using elements of agile development methods and design thinking.

The Berlin Administrative Award, presented by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller, honored innovative and solution-oriented projects from the three categories (1) Innovative Service for Citizens and Customers, (2) Process and Quality Management and Interdepartmental Cooperation, and (3) Human Resources Management on October 26, 2021, at the Rotes Rathaus (Berlin city hall).

The Berlin Administration Award is being presented for the second time this year and serves, among other things, to publicize the numerous ideas and projects of the Berlin administration and to present them to a broad public. All submissions are permanently presented online on an innovation map. The project information submitted opens up the possibility of inter-agency exchange, among other things. The award-winning SIS took second place in the category “Innovative Service for Citizens and Customers”.
