9th FOKUS Media Web Symposium

News from June 27, 2022

After a three-year break, more than 200 participants from 26 countries met again at the 9th FOKUS Media Web Symposium (MWS) in Berlin on June 21 and 22. Under the motto “And still diving deeper”, the experts discussed topics such as Internet Delivered Media, 5G Media, streaming technologies, artificial intelligence, standardization, and market development.

Since the first event in 2010, the FOKUS Media Web Symposium (MWS) has developed into a meeting of experts on all aspects of media technologies and applications. In addition to technical aspects of new technologies, discussions are increasingly focusing on commercialization. Moreover, there are challenges and opportunities that new technologies, such as 5G, pose for media streaming. In addition to 5G, the event also focused on artificial intelligence and energy-efficient but high-quality video transmission technologies. Workshops and tutorials allowed participants from the creative industries to share their experiences in these areas.

An exhibition accompanied the FOKUS Media Web Symposium. The latest developments from research could be experienced live at the exhibits.

The event was supported by MWS partners BITMOVIN, broadpeak, appear, SERVERSIDE.AI, ANYSCREEN, tiled media, DASH Industry Forum, DVB, W3C, WAVE, HbbTV, VR Industry Forum, VAUNET and Berlin Partner.

Photos of the event can viewed in the Gallery and social media posts and discussions related to #FOKUSMWS can be read here: twitter feed and linked-in posts.

In addition to the MWS, working meetings of the “dash.js Community”, the “DASH Industry Forum” and the “VR Industry Forum” took place during the Media Web Week.

The 10th FOKUS Media Web Symposium will take place in spring 2023.
