International workshop on sustainable video technology for measurable and verifiable green streaming (SVT4GS23): Call for papers

News from Mar. 17, 2023

The SVT4GS23 workshop will be hosted and organized as part of the 48th IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN) 2023. As part of a call for papers, contributions from industry and research can be submitted until May 31, 2023.

The international workshop on sustainable video technology for measurable and verifiable green streaming (SVT4GS23) will present research work and technologies for a measurable and thus assessable streaming value chain that can enable the sustainable operation and use of streaming content in terms of its carbon footprint in an automated, adaptive and self-learning manner.

The importance of considering energy efficiency and sustainability in the production, distribution, and playback of digital media along the entire value chain can no longer be dismissed with global media coverage continuously increasing. The Green Streaming workshop considers all components along the streaming value chain in terms of their potential energy efficiency including A/V encoders, packaging, content delivery networks (CDN), A/V players, and end devices. This requires innovative technologies and research work that define suitable measurement points and parameters, which build the foundation for required component-specific measurement data that can be collected and used to optimize the chain.

The SVT4GS23 workshop will be hosted and organized as part of the 48th IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN) 2023, taking place from October 2-5, 2023 in Daytona Beach, Florida, United States. Robert Seeliger of the business unit Future Applications and Media co-chairs the organizing committee.

Papers for the workshop can be submitted until May 31, acceptance notifications will be sent out until June 30, and finalized papers are due July 20. More information on topics and guidelines can be found here and here.
