“Immmr” shall offer more possibilities than the current market leader “WhatsApp”. The app will not be linked to a SIM-card; instead it is based in the cloud. Therefore, the user can login to his account with any device – independent of his mobile phone. Immmr will also provide phone calls and video telephony allowing free conversations from app to app. Even if the app will be independent of SIM-cards, it shall be integrated in mobile phone tariffs for the longer term. Immmr opens up new horizons for worldwide communication.

Deutsche Telekom is going to launch Immmr in the second half-year of 2016. Fraunhofer FOKUS appreciates this outcome and is looking forward to further cooperation with Telekom Innovation Laboratories.
