Dr. Christopher Krauss is Media & Data Science Lead in the Future Applications and Media business unit at the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS). His areas of expertise include research and development in artificial intelligence, educational technologies, and hybrid TV and web development.

He has extensive experience in national and international publicly funded research projects and in managing numerous industry projects for companies such as Axel Springer, Bertelsmann Arvato, BWI GmbH, Cornelsen, Deutsche Telekom, Deutsche Welle, Goethe-Institut, Haufe, Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, ImmobilienScout24, MediaBroadcast, Pro7Sat1, Red Bull Media House, Rovi, and Springer Nature. In his role at Fraunhofer FOKUS, he has also worked in the public sector for clients such as the German Federal Foreign Office (AA), the German Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ), the Federal Review Board for Media Harmful to Minors (BPjM), the Commission for Licensing and Supervision (KEK), and the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).

Christopher initiated the open source development of the Common Learning Middleware and is significantly involved in standards such as Schulconnex for the German education system.

In addition to his work at Fraunhofer FOKUS, Christopher Krauss lectures at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (BHT) and the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin). He has supervised over 40 theses.

He completed his studies in media informatics in 2012 at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin and Fraunhofer FOKUS with a Master of Science (summa cum laude). From 2015 to 2017, he participated in the BMBF-funded Software Campus Program for the promotion of future IT leaders. In June 2018, Christopher Krauss completed his PhD project (summa cum laude) at the TU Berlin with his dissertation “Time-Dependent Recommender Systems for the Prediction of Appropriate Learning Objects."
