The IML4E project aims to simplify and optimise the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in industrial applications. The focus is on developing scalable, robust and user-friendly ML solutions that help companies make data-driven decisions more efficiently.

As part of the project, Fraunhofer FOKUS has made a significant contribution to developing innovative tools and methods that support the entire life cycle of ML applications – from data preparation and model development to integration into existing systems. A particular focus was placed on testing and quality assurance methods, such as Continuous Auditing Based Conformity Assessment and MLOps Testing.

The ITEA Award of Excellence is presented to projects whose results create significant added value for the economy and society. The project was recognised in particular for its work in the context of standardisation, including its contribution to relevant ETSI documents on testing (ETSI TR10 3910) and auditing AI systems (ETSI TS 104008), as well as the establishment of an AI working group within ETSI MTS.

The ITEA Award of Excellence underscores the importance of the IML4E project for the use of AI and ML in industrial applications. Fraunhofer FOKUS looks forward to continuing to advance the technologies developed as part of the project and putting them into practice.
