Fraunhofer FOKUS is an experienced and competent partner for the development and application of digitalization technologies and the networking of distributed infrastructures. Fraunhofer FOKUS develops practical solutions in many national and international funded projects as well as in contract research for SMEs, large-scale industry and public administration. 

We work on research and development projects of all sizes:

    The 6G-TakeOff project is working on an uniform 3D communications network, in which flying network nodes provide functionalities together with terrestrial network components dynamically and according to demand. Fraunhofer FOKUS is currently developing an Organic Open6GCore, and will test its capabilities in various use cases together with industry partners.

    The 6G-Sandbox project aims to provide an open pan-European test environment for 6G experimentation and validation of 5G-Advanced and 6G capabilities. Companies and organizations can conduct trials on four experimental platforms. Fraunhofer FOKUS is part of the project and provides a test environment in Berlin.

    ELITE pursues the goal of making complex attacks and defense technologies of IT security tangible and experienceable for broad target groups. An immersive environment in the form of an exhibit construction kit, the so-called IT-Sec.PopUp-Lab, is to be created to give visitors a concrete impression of IT security risks.

    nExt generation eMergencY commuNicatiOnS

    Within the EMYNOS project, a next-generation emergency communication platform ist to be designed and implemented. The project aims to coordinating communication among citizens, call centers and first responders.

    5G-VICTORI is a large scale EU funded project that aims at validating 5G networks with vertical user cases. Large scale trials for Railway, Energy, Media and Factories of the Future are planned. The testbed infrastructure for the Berlin trials is provided by Fraunhofer FOKUS.

The technology partners of the BMBF-funded EXPAND+ER WB³ project develop a scalable platform that protects privacy and enables users to search for and receive recommendations for further education courses.

    The aim of WindNODE is to establish a model region for intelligent electric energy in Northeastern Germany. The digitization of the increasingly decentralized energy system with the development of ICT services as well as the development of an Open Data portal are main subjects of the project.
