Fraunhofer FOKUS is an experienced and competent partner for the development and application of digitalization technologies and the networking of distributed infrastructures. Fraunhofer FOKUS develops practical solutions in many national and international funded projects as well as in contract research for SMEs, large-scale industry and public administration. 

We work on research and development projects of all sizes:

    The project “6G Native Extensions for XR Technologies” – 6G NeXt, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), aims to develop a scalable, modular and flexible infrastructure enabling a variety of industrial and end-user use cases with requirements exceeding those of today's 5G network in terms of intelligence, performance and efficiency.

    Virtualization of Live Events via Audiovisual Immersion

    The aim of the project is to digitally complement or even replace classic event formats by using new immersive media formats when physical presence is not possible. The new media formats, include for example 3D audio, 360° videos, light fields and volumetric videos.

    In the Reallabor Hamburg (RealLabHH) the mobility of tomorrow will be tested in the here and now of a metropolis in order to create a blueprint for the digital mobility of the future. Fraunhofer FOKUS is developing with partners a digital collision warning system for vulnerable road users such as cyclists and e-scooter drivers.

  • ALADIN

    Advanced Low Altitude Data Information System

    The ALADIN project aims to ensure safer forest firefighting in the future employing demand-oriented 5G networking of emergency forces and response resources. As a first step, a nomadic, i.e. local and temporary, network is being set up at the Schönhagen airfield in Brandenburg. The network will then be used as a basis for controlling unmanned response equipment and monitoring and securing the site of operations.
