International research project transforms companies into ‘AI-first’ organisations

On 23 and 24 June 2026, the kick-off meeting for the international research project ‘Excellent AI’ took place at Fraunhofer FOKUS. The project partners have set themselves the goal of supporting companies in integrating AI into their business processes, thereby making them competitive on the global market.

So-called ‘AI-first’ organisations make targeted use of innovative AI solutions for strategic decision-making and governance. To this end, ‘Excellent AI’ places particular emphasis on the development of methods and tools and supports the effective management of AI initiatives, future-proof IT and data architectures, and the responsible and compliant use of AI.

With a total of 23 partners from eight European countries, ‘Excellent-AI’ makes a significant contribution to long-term success in the European market.

Fraunhofer FOKUS brings its expertise to the project, particularly in the areas of software and system quality and the development of reliable AI systems.

The ‘Excellent AI’ project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). Fraunhofer FOKUS is responsible for coordinating the project.
