Cloud for Europe supports public sector cloud use as collaboration between public authorities and industry. The project identifies obstacles, finds innovative solutions and builds trust in European cloud computing.

Cloud for Europe (C4E) addresses the goals of the European Cloud Partnership program. The main objectives of C4E are to build trust in European Cloud Computing, to remove the obstacles for Cloud adoption and to harmonize the requirements from different public organizations beyond national borders. The program is co-funded by the European Commission under the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP7).

Since the formation of the SC 38 Working Group WG 3 on Cloud Computing in 2009, an ongoing successful collaboration of Microsoft and Fraunhofer FOKUS has produced a number of contributions to this working group.

Cloudless is a JavaScript based technology-platform. As a software framework Cloudless is addressing typical cloud computing trends and challenges. The framework enables privacy assured administration and complete offline operation of software-as-a-service solutions.

CloudWatch aims to accelerate cloud adoption across public and private sector organisations in Europe.

The 5G-PPP CogNet project will bring advanced Machine Learning concepts and apply these in the domain of Network Management for 5G with the core objective of using the available network and environmental data to improve the operational efficiency of the network and enable the scale and QoS expected in 5G.

In a joint project of several Fraunhofer Institutes, an interoperable learning infrastructure will be created. The main component of this infrastructure is the Common Learning Middleware (CLM), which is based on open specifications and standardized interfaces and which can be used in various Learning Management Systems. The CLM will initially be developed for the creation of a joint Fraunhofer LMS (“Fraunhofer Learning Portal”) and will subsequently also be made available to third-party providers and potential licensees. This makes the development of learning technologies much more efficient.

The COMPOSE concept addresses to design, implement, and deploy an open, scalable marketplace, in which objects can be seamlessly turned into standardized services, combined, managed, and integrated into innovative applications.

The ConnRAD project aims to develop system architectures as well as communication protocols and mechanisms to increase reliability and resilience for connected, safety-critical driving functions as part of connected mobility (C-ITS, CCAM).

With the Control & Connect project, the project partners aim to promote seamless access to digital educational media for users, e.g., students and teachers, in line with the digitization strategies of the federal and state governments.

Open architecture for cooperative traffic applications

Within the CrESt project, a scientifically founded and simultaneously field-proven methodological framework for the development of highly automated collborative embedded systems is to be created. The main object of the project, which is funded by the German Feder Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is to enable networks of embedded systems to independent and intelligent collaboration.
