The current Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the most important technical foundation of the Internet. IPv4 uses 32 bit addresses and is therefore limited to four billion unique IP addresses.

Fraunhofer FOKUS as an expert in “one-stop government” and BearingPoint were commissioned by the German Federal Office of Administration (BVA) to carry out the research project “IPv6 profiles” for public administrations under the supervision of the BVA.

In the KameRAD project, a redundant sensor system for detecting an autonomously driving vehicle's environment in urban and agricultural environments was developed.

KATRETTER 
KATRETTER

KATRETTER is a professional service for rescue services to reach and coordinate volunteers quickly and legally. The KATRETTER system ensures quick and easy alerting of volunteers via smartphone app using standardized technologies. The volunteers are activated in emergencies or crisis situations according to their respective knowledge and skills.

KATWARN - the warning system

KATWARN is a new type of warning system that sends a message to affected groups of the population via smartphone app, text or e-mail when an incident or dangerous situation occurs. It supplements information provided by the police, fire service or media.

KIEZ 4.0

Although solutions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have gained importance in many economic sectors, they cannot be used in aviation, as they cannot be certified yet. The KIEZ 4.0 project will examine and formulate the technical, the ethical and legal requirements and implications for the use of artificial intelligence in aviation and lay the groundwork for certification approaches.

KiezRadar: the app for more civil participation

What’s happening in my neighbourhood? What options for participation are there in my area? What does local deal with? In the future, citizens should no longer have to go through Berlin's digital offerings themselves. The app “KiezRadar” will proactively inform citizens about important political and administrative events according to their needs.
