ANOPAS

Application-Oriented Optimization of Media-Streaming with MPEG-DASH

Aug. 01, 2015 to July 31, 2017

In recent years, the distribution of video content over the internet has increased significantly. Thus, over the open Internet without garanteed quality of service, adaptive streaming strategies that, e.g. adapt to the available bandwith are increasingly important. This trend is strengthened by the popularity of hybrid TV – the combination of traditional television with Internet technologies.

Cross-platform MPEG-DASH Media Streaming based on HTML5

“ANOPAS” contrives innovative solutions for scientific-technical challenges that enable the development of new services under the use of technologies like MPEG-DASH and HbbTV. The main focus is on the development of adaption algorithms. ANOPAS aims at reaching the best possible playback quality, fairness between users in multiple user environments, live streaming with low latency and efficient operation in wireless networks. For ensuring high interoperability, accepted standards as MPEG-DASH, HbbTV and HTML5 provide the basis. The generated solutions shall be implented in prototypes and evaluated in realistic test scenarios.
