Martin Schmalohr joined G&L in 2021 as Head of Streaming Engineering after many years of successful cooperation on behalf of his recent position at Institut für Rundfunktechnik GmbH with more than 20 years of experience from the very early days of online distribution. His responsibilities include overseeing the G&L Packaging-solution for HLS and DASH, adopted by the German free to air-broadcasters. He strongly supports G&L's optimization for efficiency of coding, performance and energy consumption in new workflows. His expertise extends to standard compliance, end device interoperability and quality of experience among all common streaming protocols as well as audio and video codecs for multi-platform delivery to iOS, Android, HTML5 and HbbTV. He has a broad background from multiple national and international research projects and standardization bodies with ARD, EBU, DVB and DASH-IF. Martin Schmalohr also performs streaming seminars at ARD.ZDF Medienakademie.
