Collaborative Safety and Health Projects

Within the EMYNOS project, a next-generation emergency communication platform ist to be designed and implemented. The project aims to coordinating communication among citizens, call centers and first responders.

In order for control centers and situation centers to maintain an overview despite the increasing amount of information due to more and more available data sources such as cameras or sensor data, Fraunhofer FOKUS is developing a semantic and intelligent dashboard.

The German-French research project SAFEST is focused on the development of hazard detection and crisis management system for high-traffic public areas. With the aid of infrared cameras, the system detects sudden changes in crowd numbers and critical crowd situations before mass panic can break out.

The ERIC project aims to improve the care of patients before and after intensive medical treatment. The aim of the project is to apply scientific findings consistently and to connect patients to a new telemedical intensive care network.

The goal of the ENSURE project is to see that volunteers are organized quickly and efficiently in emergency situations. The project is concerned with locating members of the public who have the kind of special skills needed in emergencies and disasters. The selected volunteers will be alerted and coordinated via smartphone app.

The WIND - Next Generation information system enables a variety of customizable warning and information services to be made available via smartphone apps. The aim of this “all-round warning service” is that timely alerts in the various areas of life enable users to make necessary preparations and prevent personal injury or damage to property.

The goal of the ForAn project is to increase the participation of German utilizers in projects of the European security research program. To this end, the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS is expanding the TopicMatcher, the research portal for European research projects, developed in the fit4sec and BERKoS projects, and adapting it for the goals of the ForAn project.

The research project “Coping with psychosocial situations in crises and disasters” (PsychoKat) is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and researches the psychosocial consequences of crisis and disasters on a broader scale and aims to generate a long-term psychosocial picture of the situation in society.

Based on the fit4sec project, the BERKoS project supports German actors in the formation of new research consortia. For this purpose, Fraunhofer FOKUS is realizing a platform, which helps users such as security authorities and companies to get an overview of the research and innovation landscape, to recognize innovation potentials faster and to find suitable partners more easily.

Every year, the Dominican Republic suffers from floods and other natural events that often have catastrophic consequences. Strategies for effective population warning via the existing local early warning system were already developed in a previous project in 2017. The goal now is to further strengthen the early warning system.
