Fraunhofer FOKUS wins the 2026 Quantum Effects Award for »Eclipse Qrisp«
The Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS was honored with the 2026 Quantum Effects Award in the »Quantum Computing Software & Algorithms« category. The award recognized the open-source framework “Eclipse Qrisp,” initiated by Fraunhofer FOKUS, which facilitates the development and application of quantum algorithms.
The award recognizes outstanding innovations in the field of quantum technology and their contribution to bridging the gap between classical and quantum-based information processing. »Eclipse Qrisp« enables developers to write complex quantum algorithms using an easy-to-learn, modern syntax. This allows companies to efficiently develop and test quantum algorithms and make them available for future applications.
The success of »Eclipse Qrisp« is the result of work carried out by several research projects. Among others, the »SeQDevOps« and »Qompiler« projects are helping to develop new features and continuously expand the framework. The close integration of research, software development, and the open-source community has played a key role in establishing Eclipse Qrisp as a powerful tool for the development and implementation of quantum algorithms.
The 2026 Quantum Effects Award was presented at the opening ceremony of the Quantum Effects trade show in Stuttgart on October 6, 2026.
