Fraunhofer FOKUS has designed and implemented a private 5G campus network at the Otto Lilienthal Research Airfield in Schönhagen (Brandenburg) in collaboration with partners. The manufacturer-independent network is based on Fraunhofer FOKUS' Open5GCore. As a powerful test environment for the further optimization of 5G campus networks for critical infrastructures, it enables, for example, the parallel operation of multiple networks.

In live connections to the airport, we demonstrate how the campus network can be used to prevent drone collisions and detect objects on the runway.
