Talk: “Machine Learning for the Web”, Day 1, Workshop 2, 16:30-18:00

Anssi Kostiainen is a Technical Lead for Web Standards at Intel's Open Source Technology Center. He enjoys working with the bleeding edge of web technologies helping broader web community turn early innovations into web specifications and implementations that are widely adopted. As an editor of 12 web specifications with over 200 publications on the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Standards Track in device, sensor, media, WebRTC and Progressive Web App technologies, Anssi has experience across multiple technology areas that enrich the web platform. As a chair of both W3C Devices and Sensors Working Group and Second Screen Working Group, Anssi drives efforts to standardize web features that bring device hardware and multiscreen capabilities to the Web. Anssi also chairs W3C Machine Learning, Second Screen, and Web NFC Community Groups that incubate capabilities for in-browser neural network inference, network protocols for web-connected screens, and Near Field Communication. At Intel, Anssi guides web engineers who contribute to W3C specifications and implement web features in the Chromium open-source web browser project. Anssi Kostiainen received his M.Sc. from Helsinki University of Technology, majoring in media technology with focus on web technologies.
