The research group “Digitalisierung der wissenschaftlichen Wertschöpfung” (Digitalisation of Scientific Value Creation), headed by Dr Sonja Schimmler from the DPS business unit, is investigating the influence of digitalisation on the social effects and impact of academic research.

The IT Planning Council has launched the Qualifica Digitalis research project to prepare public administration employees for the digitalised world of work. The Digital Public Services division of Fraunhofer FOKUS, together with other partners, is contributing scientific expertise to the two-and-a-half-year project.

In the “Integrierte Software Berliner Jugendhilfe (ISBJ)” (Integrated Software for Berlin Youth Services) project, the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family is digitising all business processes for youth services in the state of Berlin. A component-based and service-centred IT platform based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA) is implemented for the specialist IT procedures and IT services. The platform is continuously adapted and further developed.

Together with the Berlin Senate Department for Integration, Labour and Social Affairs, we have developed a prototype of the “Sozial-Informations-System (SIS)” (Social Information System). This data platform is now to be implemented as part of the “PaaSoDat” project through which statistical reports, health and social data will be provided across all departments via the Berlin state network.

Sovereign and secure data exchange: International Data Spaces (IDS) enable open data marketplaces for the economy and serve as blueprints for secure data ecosystems. International Data Spaces form the digital infrastructure for companies.

The “Support Centre for Data Sharing” (SCDS) is a new initiative funded by the European Commission to further support the development of the Digital Single Market. The aim is to facilitate the exchange of data between private or public organisations and thus enable the broad use of data.

In the future, selected administrative services in the European Union are to be made digitally available across borders in all Member States in a way that they can be processed online without media discontinuity. In the ACROSS project, methods are being researched and a tool framework developed to guide citizens through these new services in an interactive, user-friendly and easy-to-understand manner - securely and in compliance with data protection laws.

Everytime we use computers and smartphones, we leave behind personal data on the web - a valuable asset. To enable private individuals to retain ownership and control of their data, the EU wants to create a secure, trustworthy platform for personal data with the Data Vaults project led by Fraunhofer FOKUS DPS.

As part of the European research project ReachOut, a platform for the organization of beta test campaigns for European IT research projects has been created under the project management of Fraunhofer FOKUS. The aim is to ensure the quality and market readiness of new software solutions through the exchange of specialist expertise at European level.

The aim of WindNODE is to establish a model region for intelligent electric energy in Northeastern Germany. The digitization of the increasingly decentralized energy system with the development of ICT services as well as the development of an Open Data portal are main subjects of the project. 

What’s happening in my neighbourhood? What options for participation are there in my area? What does local deal with? In the future, citizens should no longer have to go through Berlin's digital offerings themselves. The app “KiezRadar” will proactively inform citizens about important political and administrative events according to their needs.

The aim of FLEXCoop is to introduce a fully automated demand response framework and a tool environment for private electricity generators and consumers.
