Jochen Schmidt

After studying Electronics at Technical University of Darmstadt, Jochen Schmidt (57) started working with ZDF in 1992. He began with multimedia projects in cooperation with Telco companies, public broadcaster ARD and other German TV stations.
From 1998, Jochen was project manager for setting up ZDF´s „Data Broadcast Center“ - a technical department for operating data broadcasting and internet services for ZDF and its partners. Since 2002, Jochen Schmidt managed several projects for internet portals and internet video distribution platforms.
Since 2007, Jochen is responsible as leading project manager for setup and further development of ZDF`s mediathek technical production platforms like metadata management, transcoding, playout/CDN including adaptations for HbbTV/SmartTV, mobile devices and cable platforms. From 2018, he worked on introducing UHD into ZDF`s VoD offerings. Currently, Jochen is responsible for re-investment of „Multiplex- and Compression Center“ which is ZDF´s centralized playout solution for linear TV channels and internet live streaming for all ZDF and partner channels.
