Talk: Workshop Green Streaming, Session 1, 13:30 - 14:30
Samira Afzal is a highly accomplished postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Information Technology, Alpen-Adria-Universität, Klagenfurt, Austria. She obtained her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Campinas, Brazil. She collaborated with Samsung R&D Institute Brazil to enhance the MMT protocol's multipath transmission capabilities in heterogeneous wireless networks. Her efforts resulted in the standardization contribution and the granting of INPI BR and US patents.
After completing her Ph.D., Samira continued her research as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sao Paulo and LSITEC, Brazil, where she worked on a Collaborative Mobile Surveillance System in roads of smart cities and SWARM. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at Alpen-Adria-Universität, Klagenfurt, Austria, and collaborating with Bitmovin on Apollo and GAIA projects funded by FFG, aimed at improving video encoding on the computing continuum and energy efficiency for multimedia systems. Her main research interests are video streaming, video standards including codecs and network transport protocols, energy efficiency, Cloud, Edge, and Fog computing.
