Jochen Schmidt

After studying Electronics at Technical University of Darmstadt, Jochen Schmidt (47) started working with ZDF in 1992. He began with several multimedia projects in cooperation with Telco companies, public broadcaster ARD and other German TV stations.
From 1998, Jochen Schmidt was project manager for setting up ZDF´s „Data Broadcast Center“ (DBC) which is a technical department for operating all data and internet services for ZDF and its partners (3sat, Phoenix etc.). Within DBC, all internet and data broadcasting portals are produced and hosted by using complex multichannel-capable content management platforms. Additionally, DVB-SI and EPG data are produced and delivered. Since 2002, Jochen Schmidt managed several projects for internet portals and internet video distribution platforms.
Since 2007, Jochen Schmidt is responsible as leading project manager for setup and further development of ZDF mediathek with its several technical platforms including adaptations for HbbTV, tablets and mobile devices.
In 2012, Jochen Schmidt was also responsible for setting up a „Multiplex- and Compression Center“ which is ZDF´s playout solution for all linear TV channels (SD/HD) and internet live streaming for all ZDF and partner channels.
Since 2013, Jochen Schmidt is leader of team „Neue Informations- und Mediensysteme“ within ZDF´s IT department
