Linus Thrybom

ABB, Sweden

Linus Thrybom is manager of the Industrial Networks and Control research team at ABB Corporate Research in Västerås, Sweden. His research interests include industrial communication and 5G, system architecture, distributed real-time systems and Internet of Things. He received the M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1991. Since 2008 he is with the ABB Corporate Research, Västerås, Sweden, where he in 2011 became Principal Scientist, and in 2015 he became manager of the Industrial Communication team. Since 2019 he is manager of the Industrial Networks & Control team, addressing the research topic of control in conjunction with connectivity.

Smart Factories

The Smart Factory is flexible and scalable!

These and other characteristics are shortly explained, as well its driving customer trends. The Smart Factory requirements on the infrastructure and especially the local network values are then discussed, and finally is an ongoing trial project presented which address these topics.
