Abstract

5G in Japan - Commercialization and Democratization

In Japan, we plan on commercial service-in of 5G in 2020 at the same time as Olympic/Paralympic Games are held in Tokyo,

although some telecommunication companies such as NTT Docomo have already started so called pre-service in Tokyo metropolitan area.

While we are having at the role out of commercial 5G, we also plan on private 5G so called local 5G, which attracts lots of attentions in Japan now.

In this presentation, I would like to introduce these trends around 5G, commercialization and democratization and discuss what they really mean to the society in near future.
