Received degree of Dr.-Ing. (PhD) at RWTH Aachen University in 2010 on physical layer concepts for mobile broadband access. Worked for former E-Plus (KPN Group) as Expert and Team Manager Strategic Network Planning. After merger of E-Plus and Telefónica Germany became Manager Access Network Strategy in 2015 responsible for radio spectrum strategy and future radio technologies.

Whether it is politics, industry, or media: 5G is the hot topic these days. In the course of digitization of industry and society high hopes are put into tomorrow’s mobile technology and use cases in the fields of massive machine type communication, ultra-reliable low latency communication and extreme mobile broadband are discussed. This talk picks up selected aspects of the next generation of mobile communication and discusses their chances and challenges for the mobile network operator.
