Experiential site to raise awareness of dangers from cyberspace (ELITE)

In the context of digital transformation, the relevance of information security for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is often underestimated. Dangers from cyberspace are not recognized or misjudged. The human factor is now the most prominent gateway for attackers on companies (e.g. through social engineering, phishing).

The ELITE project shows a demonstrator platform in the form of a mobile IT security experience environment that can be dynamically adapted to different application scenarios. IT attacks and IT security measures can be experienced on site at the exhibit. Using the demonstrators, interested parties can experience various attacks (based on typical SME workplaces with the appropriate hardware and software). SME-typical scenarios from everyday work are presented on several demonstrators.

ELITE is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection as part of the "IT Security in Business" initiative and is being worked on by the Fraunhofer Institutes FOKUS and IAO, the University of Hamburg and the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt. The transfer office for IT security in business (tisim.de) is the central project of the initiative. ECO, the Association of the Internet Industry e.V., is an associated partner.

Modular 5G Nomadic Node

Highly specialized campus network for precise positioning on construction sites

Earth-moving machines such as excavators, dozers, or motor graders have to work with precision, often down to the last centimeter. In road construction, cold milling machines and asphalt pavers must operate within millimeters. GNSS sensors support construction equipment operators. Real Time Kinematic Corrections transmitted to all machine controllers via a 5G campus network improve the accuracy of the position calculation. For this purpose, the modular 5G Nomadic Node from Fraunhofer FOKUS, a blueprint for temporary, reliable, and secure networks consisting of elements from the CampusOS technology toolbox, is used. The 5G Nomadic Node from Fraunhofer FOKUS comprises robust, transportable server cases that contain the hardware and software to set up a 5G campus network at short notice − even with satellite connectivity if required. The software-based Open5GCore core network ensures a flexible network tailored to the application. The 5G Nomadic Node supports radio systems from several providers, including the Open RAN radio systems from CampusOS project partners Fraunhofer HHI and Node-H. Project partner Topcon Deutschland Positioning integrated the GNSS sensor technology and the connection to the construction machines.

1ClickMetaverse-Testbed

Testing and evaluation of consumer and enterprise metaverse applications

The "Metaverse" provides companies with a virtual environment in which they can easily and efficiently present and test their products and services. With the help of digital twins, they thus obtain a real simulation of processes, functions and services that enables comprehensive analysis and optimization of business processes.

Fraunhofer FOKUS' 1ClickMetaverse now provides a test and evaluation environment for consumer and enterprise Metaverse applications. It was developed using popular 3D graphics engines and takes into account various network conditions, implementations, and streaming technologies. The integrated FAMIUM Metaverse framework enables rendering and streaming of computationally intensive 3D applications on virtually any device. This involves moving the compute-intensive 3D graphics processing to remote servers running on-premise, at the edge or in the cloud. The exhibit shows various possible uses of the 1ClickMetaverse testbed, focusing on industrial applications. The evaluation takes place in a 5G environment.

Visit us at the Industrial Metaverse booth in Hall 16, Booth A12.
