Low code: Digitising administrative processes - without traditional programming skills
Low code has attracted a lot of attention in recent years as a means of accelerating the digitalisation of administration, as it allows IT applications for public authorities to be developed and maintained more rapidly and with less effort.
The term "low code" is used too broadly for a standardised definition. The term initially only refers to the fact that powerful applications can be created with minimal traditional programming effort. Instead of working with a universal programming language, the application can be created with the help of various models or descriptions that can be understood by both experts and the low-code software.
There are various types of low code solutions available for creating applications that fulfil different tasks and requirements.
Our interdisciplinary team is dedicated to evaluating various low code approaches and researching their areas of application and impact in public administration. We identify new challenges and analyse the potential of low code as well as the qualitative conditions for its successful use.
