Industry 4.0 & OPC UA Standardization - Current Status
Abstract
OPC UA is the new information and communication standard (ICT) for industrial automation. Since SPS IPC Drives 2018, there has been no doubt about it: More than 20 of the world's leading automation suppliers have actively committed themselves to OPC UA and TSN as part of the Field Level Communication Initiative (FLC) of the OPC Foundation. However, FLC is not the only standardization effort around OPC UA. The presentation introduces more than 10 OPC UA standardization initiatives from associations like VDMA, ZVEI, Bitkom, PCLopen, IIC, DIN, LNI 4.0 and others to make OPC UA a vendor-independent standard for industrial automation.
