Open Innovation Mechanisms for Future Internet Services in Smart Cities

Nov. 01, 2010 to Apr. 30, 2013

The project Open Cities advances our understanding on open innovation management in the public sector by combining three major fields of research: open innovation, future internet services and living labs in smart cities. This is achieved by a cooperation of industry, applied research and academia on a European level in five European cities: Helsinki, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and Barcelona. To meet the ambitious goals, the project will develop novel technological platforms that support open innovation and management of open data, as well as open sensor networks, in an urban context.

The role of Fraunhofer FOKUS lies in coordinating and executing the pan-European specification, development and maintenance of a platform for the management of open data.
