Competence Center RESCON turns into NET
News from July 08, 2013
The Competence Center NET is working on solutions that enable demand oriented access to internet services in urban as well as rural and only uneconomically exploitable areas. This includes the resource efficient and integrated use of existing technologies and infrastructures as well as the development of new solutions.
A main focus of NET’s work lies on the development of “WiBACK” (Wireless Backhaul). This directional radio technology is particularly cost-effective and reliable while offering a high service level. It provides a new solution for improving the infrastructure of remote regions, thus reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas.
Currently, there are networks in Germany, Italy and Africa. Further networks in Africa and South America are planned.
