enyCLS: Secure Networking of Energy Systems

The FOKUS CLS demonstrator shows the connection of digital measuring devices, which are not covered by Smart Meter Gateway (SMGW).

The enyCLS software therefore supports the digitalization of measurement.

As part of the ‘Energiewende’ (Germany's shift toward renewables and Smart Grid technologies), one of the tasks in the Smart Meter Infrastructure in Germany is to correctly read out the data of various meter types and and the transfer to various billing service providers. One of the challenges during the smart-meter rollout and the transformation to digital measurement technology is that all meters are able to integrate into the infrastructure, as well the older models.

The flexible software solution enyCLS supports the Smart Meter Gateway infrastructure with the construction of a secure, bi-directional, application- and device-independent communication tunnel.

The CLS demonstrator shows the secure communication in the smart energy system with selected users by using the example of three M-Bus / Wireless M-Bus consumption meters.

Measuring, controlling and regulating gas, water and electricity according to ‘Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik’ (BSI) guidelines with old and new devices is possible.
