In the automotive sector, AUTOSAR with its current release 4.1 is constantly gaining in importance. Thanks to an increasing degree of maturity, more and more OEMs – and therefore also suppliers – adapt their processes to AUTOSAR and produce AUTOSAR-conform control units, software components, basic software modules, or corresponding tools. However, the realization of diverse use cases, system configurations and hardware requirements as well as opportunities for collaboration between OEMs and suppliers inevitably leads to a certain complexity of the AUTOSAR standard. 

In order to enable a seamless cooperation between OEMs and suppliers and to advance the interoperability between tools despite the aforementioned difficulties, Fraunhofer FOKUS supports the AUTOSAR development partnership with the standardization of exchange formats and the definition of the correspondent methodology (AUTOSAR Methodology). The focus is placed on the further development and maintenance of AUTOSAR development processes and workflows, as well as the introduction of new concepts. In the project AUTOSAR - Methodology and Templates, Fraunhofer FOKUS assumes responsibility for the AUTOSAR methodology specifications.
