Offloading Virtual OBU As A 5G Service For C-ITS Solutions

The experience of UMU/OdinS as experimenters in 5GINFIRE has been focused on computation offloading from constrained and mobile devices through the creation of digital twins as virtualized modules. This has been carried out developing representative VNFs of physical entities in near clouds, improving performance in terms of processing, access time and wireless communication resources. The proof of concepts have been evaluated in frames of the SURROGATES and MIGRATE solutions, and exploiting mainly the capabilities of the vehicular test-site offered by 5GINFIRE. Our participation in the project can be only described as a great experience to empower our technology background in technologies such as NFV, OSM, SDN and VIM, within an ideal ecosystem to test and deploy real solutions with the support of a highly qualified group of researchers.
