Use Case Experiences Empowered By 5G Network Slicing
5G is going to change the Society, opening new business opportunities for an extended ecosystem where new business partners (Verticals) play a key role. Network Slicing is mandatory to fully exploit these opportunities in all the 5G Scenario (MUBB, MTP and Low latency services). 5GSA is an industry initiative that aims at leveraging the benefits of network slicing to support efficiently the requirements imposed by the transformation and digitalization of business and society. Its mission is to identify networking requirements from a multitude of vertical business domains and to derive appropriate network slices that can provide value to various industries and society as a whole. Real use cases and trials with business Partners and white papers dissemination are the core of all the activities. Mobile edge Computing, Cloud edge, AI and Machine learning are the most innovative technologies to be leveraged and deployed to allow this Digital Transformation. 5G is rumping up all over the world even before it was forecasting but to exploit its full potentiality Network slicing is mandatory and not yet adopted in the 5G first launches. Several trials are in advanced deployment supported by 5GSA members in China and Italy, focusing on the use of Network slicing: Electricity, health, cloud gaming, VR Broadcasting, Autonomous Driving and Banking with important partners (Tencent, Migu, South-Power-grid and leading SMEs). Network slicing opens new business opportunities where Telco Operators can extend their role from the pure connectivity to become business enablers, increasing their revenue and optimizing the radio and computing resources according to the service. Two multimedia business opportunities are exploited (Cloud gaming and VR MM Broadcast) to support the new role that Telco Operators can play with 5G Network Slicing and to show how 5G Network Slicing can open new business opportunities for the whole new extended ecosystem that includes Technology Providers and Verticals.
