Prof. Luca Foschini

Luca Foschini is an Associate Professor of Distributed and Mobile Systems at Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna (UNIBO), Italy, where he received his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering. His interests span from distributed systems and solutions for system and service management to mobile crowd sensing and crowdsourcing, from management of cloud computing to IoT solutions for Industry 4.0, and from mobile edge & fog computing to resource management in SDN. He co-authored more than 150 papers, including around 50 magazine/journal articles and around 90 conference/workshop papers in those fields, reporting results from several national- and EU-funded projects, and receiving best paper award recognitions from various IEEE conferences, such as ICC 2018, ISCC 2019, and CAMAD 2019, as well as highly-cited paper mentions in IEEE journals, such as IEEE Sensors. About notable recent experiences in the mobile cloud and edge computing area, in 2019 he was keynote speaker at the RCIS Workshop of the Spanish Excellence Network on Service Science and Engineering and in the same year he was the organizer of the EIT summer school on Data Driven Manufacturing with Industry 4.0, addressing 5G virtualization and mobile edge computing for Industry 4.0. He has been/is active in various EU projects, he was involved in the completion of the large EU Mobile Cloud Networking project and he is now part of the UNIBO team in the recently funded IoTwins H2020 project. He serves on the Editorial Boards of IGI IJHCR, IGI IJARAS, Hindawi IJDSN, and Hindawi WCMC. In addition, he is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of ACM.
