Launch of application phase for dash.js project prizes

News from Jan. 28, 2021

As in previous years, the DASH Industry Forum will award several prizes for contributions to the dash.js project in 2021. The winners will be selected by Fraunhofer FOKUS and the DASH Industry Forum.

The awards are intended to recognize volunteers who have made ongoing contributions of significant benefit to the project’s advancement. The 1st place award will be $750, the 2nd place award will be $500, and the 3rd place award will be $250. The award ceremony will be held online during the ACM Multimedia Systems (MMSys) conference from Sept. 28 to Oct. 01, 2021.

To nominate candidates for the awards to the jury, send the name, github account, and (optionally) specific contributions to Daniel Silhavy, Project Manager at Frauhofer FOKUS, by August 27, 2021. Winners will be selected with the DASH Industry Forum Board of Directors after the application period closes.

As part of the dash.js project, Fraunhofer FOKUS works on maintaining the source code. This work includes categorizing, commenting, resolving, closing open issues and pull requests, and implementing new features specified in the DASH-IF. The dash.js player is used in numerous projects and serves as a streaming client for enterprises.
