The Digitising European Industry (DEI) strategy aims to reinforce EU's competitiveness in digital technologies and ensure that any industry in Europe, big or small, wherever situated and in any sector can fully benefit from digital innovations. One pillar of the strategy is to setup a pan-European network of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH), to broadly foster and disseminate digital innovation.

Manufacturing Industry Digital Innovation Hubs (MIDIH) Innovation Action is a Phase III I4MS project and part of the Factory of the Future program. The MIDIH objectives are to support the Digitization of the European Industry by providing a network of Competence Centers and Digital Innovation Hubs for developers, corporates, SMEs and startups.

Customers can choose from a wide range of services ranging for access to technologies as IoT platform based on common standards and open interfaces, business services as incubation, acceleration and access to market and finance. Furthermore through a network of domain experts knowledge transfer will be provided by professional training courses and webinars.

Fraunhofer FOKUS is contribution with the IIoT Center which is one of the nine European-wide regional competence centers. Services of the IIoT Center range from knowledge transfer to strategy development, to implementation and testing of systems and products. Main focus of the technology-specific services are focusing on IIoT connectivity and communication, having in-depth know-how with regards to market overview; standards and technologies. Furthermore we maintain hands-on expertise through our own IIoT infrastructures and testbeds ranging from 5G networks, Low Power Wide Area Networks to deterministic Ethernet (TSN), where our clients are provided with live demonstrations, are supported in development and integration and supported in testing and hardening their products.
