Towards software-based industrial communication by integrating 5G, TSN and Edge Computing

Postponed to November 2021!

The health of our partners and colleagues is very important to us so we decided to postpone the highly international Industrial IoT Forum to 2021. Personal networking is essential for IIoT Forum. We don’t want to change its character and hope to be able to hold the event at the end of next year with many participants from all over the world again.

Until then, please read our newsletter with information about new services and technologies offered by our department and our involvement in digital events about 5G, Edge Computing, TSN and IIoT.

Within the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), industrial communication is moving towards interoperable open communication standards. As software eats the industry, industrial communication infrastructures will be software-based as well. For the fourth time, Fraunhofer FOKUS' IIoT Center is organizing the Industrial IoT Forum in Berlin. This year with a focus on 5G, TSN and Edge Computing for Industry 4.0.

Last year, more than 100 decision-makers and key experts from companies such as B&R Automation, Bosch, German Edge Cloud, KUKA, Siemens, TTTech, etc. and initiatives such as EECC, IIC, LNI4.0, and the OPC Foundation presented their view – stay tuned for the detailed agenda of this year’s event.

Additionally, cutting-edge solutions and experiences, gained from latest IIoT testbeds and trials, will be presented through a broad range of live demonstrations. In the evening there will be a chance to intensify face-to-face discussions with the participants, including our IIoT experts.

Major focus areas include:

  • The Future of Software-based Industrial Communication
