eMERGE

July 01, 2012 to June 30, 2015

eMerge is a pilot project, which is developed in the scope of “Modellregionen Elektromobilität”, a program funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development.

Electric Mobility projects of the first generation focused on the technical aspects and general suitability of charging infrastructure and vehicles. However, electric mobility projects of the second generation mainly focus on vehicles, infrastructure and business models.

In eMERGE, Fraunhofer FOKUS and its project partners Daimler AG, RWE Effizienz GmbH, PTV AG, Technische Universität Berlin, Universität Siegen and RWTH Aachen analyse “electric mobility” holistically, considering all participating sectors, from vehicle, energy, traffic to customers/users. In this project, each of these dimensions is represented by at least one project partner.

Fraunhofer FOKUS introduces expert knowledge in simulation technologies and its simulation tool VSimRTI, which enables the technical integration of these dimensions. Different scenarios shall be simulated, in which dependencies and interdependences between the dimensions are expected and accordingly assumed, to accomplish effect analysis.

Besides the technical development and analysis, up to 175 “smart for two electric drive” will be deployed at consumer and business customers to test them in a realistic environment in the model regions Rhein-Ruhr and Berlin/Potsdam. The actual utilisation will be analysed systematically and should give conclusions for the further development of the simulation environment VSimRTI.
